FEATURE STORY
Wisconsin Camp 2024
What a weekend!
Over the second weekend of August RTS hosted an age group camp in the beautiful “Driftless Region” of Wisconsin. This is an area that was not affected by glaciers in the last ice age, so the hills are rolling and the views are incredible.
We got extremely lucky and had perfect weather for the camp.
We stayed in a large farmhouse just outside of Mount Horeb where we had easy access to the IRONMAN Wisconsin bike course. Over the course of 5 days athletes had the opportunity to; ride up to 228 miles, covering over 13,000 feet of elevation gain; run up to 31 miles on shaded trails and swim in both Lake Monona and a 50m outdoor pool.
This was a camp aimed at those athletes looking to get in some great volume, preparing for a big fall race.
We lived and cooked family style in the farmhouse and it was great to really get to know our RTS members and friends.
Everyone had a blast and it will absolutely be on the calendar again for 2025 so look out for early bird announcements!
~ Adam

PRO TIP
Don’t give into the myth that more is always better. Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes you need to experiment to find the right balance. In an endurance sport, we are programmed to try to handle a lot, and sometimes ‘more’ feels like the safest answer; for example, ‘if I add more mileage, how can I or anyone else possibly say I’m not giving this everything?’. Sometimes you are the only one who can give yourself permission to try to work smarter rather than harder.

RTS PRO
A LOT has been happening for our RTS pros. Particular highlights are podiums for Marc and for Jackson and Garrick on opposite sites of the world!
Check out the results below from a busy month of pro racing!
Particular highlights included:
Jackson had a hard day toughing through a bad crash at Ironman Frankfurt in August, placing 43rd. Underscoring that even the best have tough days, he bounced back for his first win of the year, placing 1st in a strong men’s field at 70.3 Michigan!
Marc had a good performance with 10th place at the 70.3 Tallinn European Championship then a HUGE 2nd place podium at Challenge Beijing, a non-draft-legal Olympic distance race!
Garrick placed 2nd at the Ontario end-of-season favourite Barrelman Triathlon in Niagara!
Lisa placed 4th at 70.3 Michigan with a dominant fastest bike split!
Nicole is properly back in the game with 6th in a strong field at 70.3 Michigan.
Tamara had to problem-solve a power meter not connecting (in the end an issue with her bike computer not the power meter) at 70.3 Tallinn in very windy conditions on a flat course. Honestly, it was tough. But she rallied to place 7th only seconds out of the top 6.
Read more about their experiences HERE!

Flaca Qualifies for AG 70.3 Worlds at 70.3 Oregon!
In an exciting collaboration to highlight Flaca’s stellar performance at 70.3 Oregon this past July, where she placed 6th in her AG, Flaca has provided a race recap in Spanish, which our RTS pro and language major Nicole has translated into English. Below is a taste, and the full article is available in both languages on our Blog!
Huge thanks to both athletes for their contribution to making this possible!
Here’s what Flaca had to say:
Salem 70.3 Oregón fue, sin duda, una experiencia inolvidable y una de las mejores carreras que he realizado.
…
Salem 70.3 es una carrera que recomendaría a cualquier triatleta. Es un evento donde la organización, el entorno se combinan para crear una experiencia única. Y para mí, es una carrera a la que sin duda regresaré una y otra vez.
Here’s Nicole’s translation:
Salem 70.3 was, without a doubt, an unforgettable experience and one of the best races I've done.
…
Salem 70.3 is a race I would recommend to any triathlete. It's an event where the race organization and community combine to create a unique experience. And for me it's a race that I will undoubtedly return to again.
