FEATURE STORY
What does it take to be a paratriathlon guide? The good and the tough of it.
After guiding for Taylor Talbot again at World Triathlon Para World Cup Alhandra and the World Triathlon Para World Championship in Torremolinos, Lisa sat down to answer some questions about the process, ups and downs of acting as a guide.
Here is an excerpt from her interview:
Guiding has been a very eye opening experience for me as I am actually acting as someone else’s eyes! I have learned that there are many parts of the world that aren’t very accessible (ex. most of Europe)…Throw in language barriers, traveling with two bikes (one being a tandem bike), two big suitcases and a visually impaired athlete, there’s lots of frustrating moments involved around travel…but the para triathlon community is a really amazing community filled with so many amazing, hard working individuals. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to experience it all first hand!
DON’T MISS the full interview HERE!! Lisa also gets into the World Triathlon rules governing the role of guide during a race.
PRO TIP
Always bring an extra gel to the swim start! While I take a gel right before the swim start, there’s always the risk of a swim being delayed. In the event this happens, you can top off your calories with your spare gel or get ready to ask some generous spectators for some food!! If you don’t need it, you can tuck it into your kit - they’re usually waterproof ;)

RTS PRO
Jackson sat down to answer some pre-Kona interview questions.
Here is an excerpt:
I have always thought of Kona as the pinnacle of long course triathlon and that has not changed; however, I didn’t expect to be here this year! At the start of the year, I wasn’t planning to do any Ironmans, or maybe one. Once the T100 series wasn’t really happening for me, I just decided to go for the Ironman series and here we are!
DON’T MISS Jackson’s full pre-race reflections HERE!!!
Other highlights include:
Jackson, Lisa, Nick, Garrick and Marc rallied with the rest of the North American triathlon community in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s impact on 70.3 Augusta and IM Chattanooga!
Marc WON IM 70.3 Cozumel then made his T100 debut with a Wild Card spot at T100 Lake Las Vegas where he placed 12th!
Tamara had a ROUGH day at T100 Ibiza with a DNF on the bike after an anxiety attack. She bounced back with a strong 8th place on a brutal course at T100 Lake Las Vegas.
Check out this fun video of the wild experience that was hurricane-impacted Ironman Chattanooga HERE!

Amanda takes on Nice!
Amanda placed a strong 22nd out of 172 women in the 30-34 age group on the relentless Ironman World Championship course in Nice!
Here’s an excerpt of her race reflection:
The Ironman Women’s World Championship in Nice, France was such an amazing experience - getting to race on a new championship course is a challenge, but also a joy. The course was full of beautiful waters, stunning mountains (which means long climbs and harsh descents, but the views are worth it, right?), and supportive crowds.
