Not the least of which is IM 70.3 Worlds in Taupo!

For anyone heading to Taupo to race, Tamara is there well-ahead of time and has put together some tips. HERE!

Nicole on the podium at the Edisto Pro-Am Triathlon in Charleston, South Carolina

Nick at Ironman Cozumel!

FEATURE STORY

Why do pros do local triathlons?

Nicole placed a strong 2nd at the Edisto Pro-Am Triathlon in South Carolina, continuing to re-build momentum after the stingray horror of early 2024! She put down some detailed thoughts about “local” (smaller triathlons not run by major international brands) racing as a pro. On why this race appealed to her, Nicole writes:

Well, it was 60 miles from my brother’s house, which is in Charleston, SC. A family visit worked into a triathlon was an efficient way to make the most out of a long weekend away. And they offered a pro prize purse, which was a huge plus. With a 3-month delay to my season, it was a great opportunity to race again. However, the experience was also so eye-opening! I’d been so used to the formula that Ironman follows that I almost let a few details get the best of me.

PRO TIP

Consider a wider tire at slightly lower pressure on rougher roads for a more comfortable ride - but be careful not to interfere with with the aerodynamics of your TT set-up (particularly important on the front wheel).

You don’t want a tire that is wider than the widest part of the rim. Ideally, an inflated tire should be about 90% of the wheel width (you can measure with calipers!)

RTS PRO

Tamara had a rough go of the T100 Grand Final in Dubai this month. She wants more time to reflect on the year before setting down more takes on the T100, and she’s in Taupo full of energy for IM 70.3 Worlds right now!

In the meantime, Marc sat down to answer some questions reflecting back on his T100 experience at Lake Las Vegas in October

Here is an excerpt:

Honestly, not much [surprised me about the T100 experience]! I’ve been following these races all year and did my homework. The T100 team has every aspect of race week dialed in, making it such an enjoyable experience for the athletes. I was stoked to receive a wild card and wanted to make the most of the opportunity!

DON’T MISS Marc’s full interview (and the origin story of “Marc the Shark”) HERE!!!

Other highlights include:

Jackson completed his KONA debut! He struggled in the heat on the run, but making it through in his first year focusing more on the full distance (a decision made only part way through the season!) is a huge accomplishment!

Nicole placed 2nd at the Edisto Pro-Am Triathlon - don’t miss our feature story above on her experience!!

Nick returned to his one of his favourite locations for a tough go at IM Cozumel.

Check out our post-race interview with Nick on his IM Cozumel experience HERE!

T100 Lake Las Vegas

Dubai was interesting, but the T100 pro course felt a bit like empty loops of the ring roads around an airport…

RTSx

Adam Wraps Up the Season!

What a year 2024 has been for RTSx! This year Nick and I decided to create an expansion squad to complement our existing roster of 8 professional triathletes. The idea behind this was to create a pipeline through which to find some of the next best talent in triathlon, and to spread the positive vibes of RTS throughout the triathlon community.

Not ones to sit on our laurels, Nick and I are doubling down for the 2025 season. Next year RTSx will become our elite amateur racing team. And we will be adding several new professional athletes to an expanded pro roster. In 2025 it is very possible that RTS will be supporting over 30 athletes in some capacity!

And don’t forget to cheer on Rachel Mensch and Domi Jamnicky at IM 70.3 Indian Wells!
